Quartz stone

Engineered quartz stone is a man-made product and it consists of natural quartz aggregates (approximately 93%), pigments and polymer resins. Natural quartz is one of nature’s hardest minerals, therefore engineered quartz worktops are inherently durable, impervious to stains and resistant to acids. Engineered quartz worktops and worksurfaces are hard wearing, non-porous and easy to care for, ideal for the kitchen and bathroom where durability and hygiene are paramount. Quartz stone is available in a diverse variety of attractive colours, with a polished or honed finish, offering a versatile design solution appropriate for any contemporary or traditional setting. With its beauty and performance advantages over laminate, a quartz kitchen worktop or bathroom vanity will definitely add value to your home.

Quartz stone is a great alternative for marble, limestone and concrete. Unlike some of the porous natural stones and concrete, quartz stone surfaces do not require regular sealing. Each quartz stone slab is factory sealed resulting a non-porous and hygienic material that requires no aftercare.

Quartz stone is mainly used indoors for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanities and for decorative fireplace surrounds, but the design possibilities are endless.

The standard quartz stone slab finish is polished. Other available finishes are honed (matt) and leather (textured or rough). Matt or textured quartz stone finishes are easy on the eye, while polished surfaces can be overwhelming if everything in the room has a glossy finish. All quartz stone finishes are suitable for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops, bathtub surrounds, tabletops and decorative fireplace surrounds, just to mention a few. Please note that not all quartz stone colours are available in polished, honed or textured finish. If in doubt, please contact us to find out the available finish of the selected quartz stone colour, and, to request samples.

The standard quartz stone slab thickness is 20mm or 30mm. However, some quartz stone manufacturers offer 12mm thick slabs as well. The recommended thickness for quartz stone kitchen worktops and bathroom vanity tops is 20mm or 30mm. For decorative cladding we highly recommend the use of 12mm quartz stone, if the selected quartz stone colour is available in this slab thickness.

Please note that adequate and stable support is a must, regardless of the thickness of the quartz stone.

To avoid unnecessary load on joinery, the edge of the quartz stone worktop can be built-up to create a thicker appearance. Please state the desired edge detail (or edge profile) when requesting a quote.

Most quartz stone products are not UV resistant, hence not recommended for outdoor use and must be shielded from direct sunlight. However, Caesarstone, a leading premium quartz stone manufacturer, recently launched three new colours that are highly UV resistant, non-porous, durable, scratch, stain, mould and mildew resistant, and, easy to clean. The three new quartz stone colours form the basis of Caesarstone’s ‘Outdoor’ collection.

The ‘Outdoor’ collection has been meticulously developed and tested to withstand harsh sunlight and variable temperatures. The new quartz colours, suitable for outdoor use, are available in 20mm slabs and come with a ten-year warranty offered by Caesarstone.

Please note that all quartz stone products must be kept away from naked flame.
