Marble is a non-foliated metamorphic rock that forms when limestone or dolomite is subject to heat and pressure (metamorphism). It is composed primarily of the mineral calcite and unlike granite or quartzite it is less hardwearing and more porous. Each marble slab is unique and full of personality. Marble kitchen worktops can be enjoyed for many years if sealed regularly. Marble is a graceful material that ages well if looked after and well-maintained.

Marble is a quarried natural stone, extracted from marble mountains in form of blocks. Marble blocks are processed according to the requirements of the client/project. For most residential and commercial projects 20mm marble slabs are used. Each marble slab has a unique vein pattern and colours may vary from slab to slab and batch to batch.

Once the client is happy with the selected marble’s veining and colour the fabrication process starts. Marble slabs could be turned into bespoke kitchen worktops, bar countertops, bathroom vanities, tabletops, fire hearths or decorative fireplace surrounds, wash hand basins, cut-to-size marble tiles to clad bathrooms, hallways, lift cars.

Marble can be used both indoors and outdoors.

All marble surfaces must be sealed with high quality sealant and protected from sharp objects.

The standard marble slab finish is polished or honed. Other available finishes are sandblasted, flamed and leather.

Polishing intensifies the colours present in the marble, while sandblasting can result a dull appearance.

Marble shower trays must be sandblasted due to safety reasons. Please note that dark grey or black marbles will look lighter in colour when sandblasted or flamed.

Marble slabs are available in 20mm or 30mm thickness. Recommended thickness for marble kitchen worktops, splashbacks and upstands is 20mm. Thicker marble worktops require adequate support and will cost more than the 20mm version.

To avoid unnecessary load on joinery, the edge of the marble worksurface can be built-up to create a thicker appearance. 20mm marble worktops and bathroom vanity tops with built-up edges can have intricate profiles. Please state the desired edge profile during the quotation process.

White marble tiles, steps, risers and thresholds are favoured when restoring porticos of listed buildings and private residential properties.

MARBLE SAMPLE GALLERY

We compiled a modest online sample gallery to give our clients an idea of the available marble colours. The sample gallery is not exhaustive. If you are unable to find the marble that you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact us. We have a dedicated team who can assist you in sourcing and finding the right stone for your project, or, offer alternatives if needed.

Please note these images are put in place to give an idea of the colour and vein variations present in the marble. Misconceptions sometimes occur because of the following reasons:

  • Marble is a natural stone therefore its colour and vein pattern may vary from batch to batch

  • Samples represent just a small area of an actual marble slab

  • We encourage all our customers to view the selected marble slab(s) in person whenever is possible

  • Slab and sample images are representational only. Due to changes in lighting conditions marble slab and sample may appear different in pictures than it does in real life

  • The displays of smart devices, tablets and personal computers sometimes interpret colours differently
